Dubai Biotechnology and Research Park (DuBiotech)
The Dubai Biotechnology and Research Park (DuBiotech) is the world’s first Free Zone dedicated to Life Science Industry. The mission of DuBiotech is to create a commercially sustainable biotechnology and life sciences cluster in this region. Realizing Biotechnology as one of the greatest intellectual investments of today’s world DuBiotech focuses on the following objectives:
- Foster Life Science education, training and industry support.
- Create an environment for every stakeholder in the Life Science Industry to coexist and collaborate
- Encourage innovation through educational grants, research funds and joint ventures.
DuBiotech strives to build a hub for the life sciences industry by offering an attractive mixture of incentives and tax free environment to become the site of choice for Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical industries. Small and medium enterprises and large biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies, R&D laboratories, biotechnology related educational and academic institutions, suppliers, manufacturing, incubators and other associated sectors are highly encouraged to establish operations at DuBiotech. The DuBiotech community offers a wide range of facilities to its Business Partners which includes commercial and residential accommodation space, laboratory complex, academic institutes, schools, clinics, a hotel and conference centre, retail and lifestyle amenities as well as business support services and has set up the necessary infrastructure for life science companies to conduct activities within the park including hazardous waste management, custom support services for logistics and distribution activities and centralized facilities for research and development activities.
All companies located at DuBiotech are governed by international standard regulations. DuBiotech, in conjunction with RTI International, has developed world class international regulations covering all aspects of the Life Science industry. The UAE Ministry of Health oversees the approval of medical drugs and products for use within the UAE. DuBiotech, through its MOU, regulations and close collaboration with the UAE Ministry of Health, assists DuBiotech based companies to successfully launch drugs in national and regional markets. Any drugs that are exported to the US or Europe have to be approved by the FDA and EMEA respectively.
Additional offerings include the presence of a university providing graduate programs in life sciences and BioTiqania, a continuing education institute conducting scientific training courses and certifications. BioTiqania has established its first partnership with US-based Center for Professional Advancement (Cf PA), an international leader in technical training since 1967, offering over 450 courses in 19 applied industrial technologies. BioTiqania provides year-round certification in laboratory safety courses and continuous education programs covering a wide range of scientific disciplines. The course curricula are designed to help working scientists, engineers and business managers attain the technical skills required and meliorate their professional experience. The courses are offered in various formats including on site, public and client sites as well as interactive online training. DuBiotech is actively building affiliations and alliances with distinguished universities, specialist hospitals, world regulatory bodies and other research parks to link the DuBiotech community with the global Biotechnology Industry.
